Gara Yaka

Gara Yaka belongs to the group of demons. However, due to his good deeds (merit) in a previous life, he was later accepted into the group of gods. Because of this, he is believed to have the power to remove the evil eye, bad speech, and other misfortunes. Therefore, he is called upon for protection and to remove such negative effects. At the end of a Kolam dance performance, Gara Yaka appears on stage to perform rituals to remove these harmful influences.
