කුඹය හා කුඹය සවි කිරීමට යොදනු ලබන රැහැන්වල පීඩනය පවත්වා ගැනීමටත්, නැවෙහි ආම්පන්න රුදවා ගැනීමටත් කුඹ ගස, අංගනය, නැව සතු දිග, වටකුරු රිට හා නැව් බඳේ සිට ඉදිරියට දික් වූ රිට ආදිය ඒවායේ නිශ්චිත ස්ථානයන්හි රුදවා ගැනීමට ආධාර වේ. මේවායේ කප්පි රෝදයක් දැක ගත නොහැකි අතර ඒ වෙනුවට සිදුරු තුනක් හරහා නළා ලණුව රංදවා තිබේ. මෙම උපාංග ලෝහ සහ දැව මාධ්‍යයෙන් නිර්මාණය කර ඇත.

Deadeyes were essential components in the standing rigging of sailing ships from the 17th through the 19th centuries, particularly in square-rigged vessels. Their primary role was to maintain tension in the shrouds and stays — the strong ropes or cables that supported the masts laterally and longitudinally.
