From the Avondster, several weights were recovered. A cup weight set consist of a set of seven or more cups and a small disc- shaped weight, the so called “filler" or "end Piece". The outer cup is Container in which the other weights are stored.It is fitted with a locking mechanism to prevent the loss of the small weight inside.This heavier Weights were used all over European colonies in Africa, America and Asia.Parts of cup weights are common finds on Excavation in the Netherland.
